Industry collaboration
Paths of partnership.
Forms of engagement
Partnering with the cluster can take several forms, from training the next generation of researchers to building and testing the next generation of tools. The paths below are a starting point: each partnership is shaped together with the partner.
- 01
Industrial PhD training
Doctoral projects co-supervised by an industrial collaborator, industry mentors for doctoral researchers, and one- to three-month internships with partner companies through the cluster’s doctoral school.
- 02
Platform co-development
Developing new spatial methods, chemistries, instruments and software together with the groups behind several of today’s most widely used spatial platforms.
- 03
Beta testing and validation
Early access to new methods and products, tested and validated on well-characterised biological and clinical samples before they reach the wider market.
- 04
Joint application projects
Bringing a partner’s own questions, in drug discovery, diagnostics or agriculture, to cluster groups with the spatial methods and expertise to answer them.
- 05
Spin-outs and investment
A route from cluster inventions to new companies, with investors and innovation offices among the organisations that have signed on to the cluster.
- 06
Regulatory and adoption insight
Current intelligence on the regulatory, legal and societal conditions for adopting new spatial technologies, from the cluster’s work on society and policy. Partners can draw on adoption-barrier maps, trust evidence, consent templates and data-stewardship protocols from the cluster’s social science work.
